For over two decades my wife and I have been running an orphanage and stumbling through serving at-risk children in Baja. Today our team cares for over 100 orphaned or abandoned children growing up at Door of Faith Orphanage.  We’re raising our many children up to be healthy individuals who serve in our community, and ultimately raising their own families. We also host around 300 short-term missions teams a year, leading them to life-changing serving experiences.

For several years, I have been working with Strong Tower Ministries helping people use their skills and gifts for the kingdom through short-term missions. We connect people to healthy, fruitful ministries in Mexico in need of substantial building projects, medical teams, or other assistance in fulfilling their missions.

When my wife and I are not overseeing a dedicated team here at Door of Faith, we spend our time training and consulting with other orphanage teams here in Mexico, Africa, and other areas. We love connecting with people passionate about orphan care and reaching the abandoned.

Too many children are orphaned, abandoned, abused, and need a safe place to call home. I hate orphanages, I wish they didn’t have to exist, but if they have to exist, I think they should be great. The family model is ideal, but if a child can’t be with a family, an orphanage should reflect the family as much as possible. Children need a safe place to heal and grow into the people God intends them to be.

I do not claim any great knowledge, just decades of mistakes that I occasionally learn from. I’m a living testimony that God can use enthusiastic stupidity.
